Designer - Fashion - FTC for up to 12 months

About the role

We have an opportunity for an experienced fashion Designer to join the team to design and create fashion products to appeal to our target customer, increase sales and reduce level of returns. This role is a fixed term contract of up to 12 months to cover maternity leave

This is a hybrid role, working in the office at least 2 days each week and the remainder from home.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design to the required brief and curate and develop commercial ranges in line with our target customer and brand DNA.
  • Work with the design team to pull together seasonal trends and colour palettes.
  • Conducting research, comp shops, catwalk analysis and trend prediction to keep up to date with current and seasonal trends.
  • Compile seasonal key shapes to present during strategy meetings.
  • Participate in range reviews with the buyers.
  • Work closely with the buying team on product development and evolution of the range.
  • Work closely with the print designer to ensure the ranges have the correct print balance.
  • Work closely with QA when briefing out tech packs to factories.
  • Build relationships with key suppliers and attend regular supplier meetings.
  • Participate in relevant Far East and European factory visits for seasonal product development.
  • Participate in relevant European shopping trips for inspiration.

About you

  • Proven experience of designing in a Retail and/or Mail Order environment, in order to meet the Company’s targets
  • Proficient in Photoshop/and or illustrator.
  • High level range planning skills
  • Broad related product experience
  • Commerciality and sound judgement
  • Fashion design degree or equivalent
  • Excellent organisational skills 
  • Ability to prioritise effectively whilst working at pace
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal 
  • Flexible and positive attitude and approach to work
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as directed.
  • An enthusiastic, tenacious and proactive individual.
  • High attention to detail at all times.
  • Organized, structured in approach and willing to take ownership of results
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work through rapid change
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Able to commute to Bradford city centre
