Junior Buyer - Fashion

About the role

We have a great opportunity for a Junior Buyer To develop and implement a departmental product range which satisfies customer requirements and delivers the core values and attributes of the FGH Brands

This is a hybrid role - working at least 2 days in the office with the remainder from home.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the assortment from Group product to maximise margin, drive sales and the need for flexibility in response to changing customer and market needs
  • Deputise for the Buyer in their absence – maintain overall knowledge of the department performance
  • To ensure that profit and sales are potentialised and the offer is curated to suit the UK market
  • Propose and develop seasonal departmental product strategies which take account of product performance, customer requirements, marketing plans and current and future market trends
  • In conjunction with the Merchandiser and QA, develop, review and gain agreement for the department strategy and targets for each product area to achieve sales and profit plans.
  • Continually review competitor product offer for the relevant market to ensure our price points and product range is competitive and seasonably appropriate
  • Agree with the Buyer and Merchandiser sales targets from ‘Open to Buy’ and range reviews.  Agree range plan, stock flow, margins and prices with Merchandiser to ensure smooth flow of the right stock at the right time
  • In conjunction with QA, review returns and star reviews
  • As one of the Brand’s Product Experts, make recommendations to Marketing and E-commerce on products that should be featured in editorial content / emails / promotions
  • Agree objectives with direct reports, manage their performance and provide advice and guidance so they can work effectively and develop within their roles
  • To be committed to good outcomes for customers at all times
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable UK and local regulations, Company Policies and FCA Conduct Rules
  • Demonstrate behaviours in line with our Company values
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by acts and omissions at work

About you

  • MS office, especially EXCEL
  • Proven experience of working within a Buying and Merchandising Team in a fashion/home environment 
  • Competitor knowledge and understanding in both retail, Home shopping and online
  • Understanding of core target customer types and end-use of offer
  • Experience of trade analysis and reporting.  
  • Enjoys working within a wider team, including our international colleagues
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to form and execute marketing plans to drive KPIs and meet customer needs
  • Maths and English grade C or above, or equivalent
  • Excellent organisational skills 
  • Ability to prioritise effectively whilst working at pace
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal 
  • Flexible and positive attitude and approach to work
  • Good influencing skills both internal and external customers 
  • Occasional business travel which may include an overnight stay and international travel
  • Working knowledge of selection buying processes
  • Knowledge of working with brands. 
  • Experience of managing direct reports
  • Experience of devising and delivering strategies and sign offs.  
  • Able to support and be a delegate for Buyer Buyer.  
  • Able to commute to Bradford city centre
