Innovation and Analytics Lead

About the role

We have a new opportunity for a Innovation & Analytics lead to join the Planning & Operations team in Buying and Merchandising.

The main focus of the role is to support the FGH development of a new end-to-end Buying and Merchandising planning solution working alongside 3rd party developers. As well as system development responsibilities includes all data input requirements, embedded optimisation models, associated downstream process automation and MI outputs to support the decision making of the Buying & Merchandising Function.

Role Responsibilities

  • System creation and delivery including modelling, programming, testing and release activities.
  • Provide a data-driven foundation for decision-making
  • Creating databases for data storage and future access
  • Identifying anomalous data and examining and eliminating any processes or procedures that contribute to unreliable data being collected
  •  Analysing data through a variety of statistical methods and models
  • Presenting data and recommendations to senior management teams
  • Tracking the progress of operational changes that are implemented across the company through key performance indicators 
  • Selecting and employing advanced statistical procedures to obtain actionable insights.
  • Cross-validating models to ensure their generalisability.
  • Staying informed about developments in Data Science and adjacent fields to ensure that outputs are always relevant.

About you

Skills you'll need include:-

  • Developing complex mathematical models that integrate business rules and requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of SQL
  • Experience using statistical computing package e.g. R preferable.
  • Familiar with machine learning principles and techniques.
  • Scripting language e.g. Python preferential.
  • Experience in C++ preferential.
  • UI experience preferential
  • Experience of a retail head office and retail KPIs preferential.
  • Influence without authority
  • Problem Solver
  • Proactive, creative, innovative and collaborative
  • Able to engage with senior management
  • Communication skills to detail complex information in an easy-to-understand format
  • Story telling skills
  • Knowledge of visualisation tools e.g. Power BI or Tableau
