Cashbook Clerk (35 hours per week)

About the role

To keep accurate and timely records of all receipts and payments for Grattan & Freemans bank accounts and ensure that they are posted to the general ledger.

Role Responsibilities

  • To maintain the cash books for Grattan and Freemans.
  • To update cashflow on a daily basis and ensure cash balances are optimised across the banks.
  • To reconcile the bank accounts to both the general ledger and excel based worksheets.
  • Ensuring that reconciling differences are correctly identified and cleared within acceptable timeframes.
  • Processing sundry receipts and payments, ensuring that all paperwork is properly recorded and filed.
  • Reviewing transactions to ensure that they reflect the businesses normal trading and investigating any occurrence that may be out of the ordinary.
  • To follow up unusual transactions with other business units and correct their assumptions if necessary.
  • Working closely with contact centre, credit team and accounts payable. Externally with banks and auditors.
  • Providing support to the rest of the team as and when required.
  • To be committed to the fair treatment of customers at all times
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable UK and local regulations, Company Policies and FCA Conduct Rules
  • Demonstrate behaviours in line with our Company values
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by acts and omissions at work

About you

  • Basic knowledge of Excel & Word.
  • Good written and verbal skills.
  • Numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible in approach and able to adapt to the changing demands of the business.
